Last week I rather crashed a certain job fair at a certain nearby maritime academy, and I think I may have landed a job with the opportunity to sail as mate because of it.
On my way home, I explored Vallejo (WHY would I want to do THAT?) and truthfully, run down as it is, it’s easy to see that it used to be a really sweet little Navy town. But with the departure of the military many years ago, all that’s left is broken-down houses on a hill and a bankrupt town – as well as an eerie, ancient shipyard on a marshy little island.
